Niet geheel buiten verwachting hebben we op de Mazer Cup geen medaille behaald. We zijn ook niet met dat doel naar Denver getrokken. De Zwarte Bessen mede die we inschreven voor de competitie heeft evenwel een schitterend resultaat behaald. Maar als je het opneemt tegen de beste medemakers in de wereld is 90% nog niet goed genoeg. 😉
De ranking van de mede wordt omschreven als excellent/outstanding.
Ik vertrek maandag dus met een bijzonder goed gevoel terug naar huis, helemaal klaar om er weer in te vliegen in de brouwerij en met een shit-ton aan verse inspiratie. Hou je dus maar vast aan je bretellen. Er komen nieuwe medes aan.
Nu rest me enkel nog de vervelende taak om dadelijk de after-party bij te wonen en nog meer mede te proeven. Zucht.
So… We didn’t win a medal at the Mazer Cup International. This doesn’t really come as a shock as we didn’t set out to win one in the first place. The Black Currant Mead we entered in the competition did however perform above and beyond expectations. But when competing against the best mead makers in the world a 90% score doesn’t quite cut it. 😉
I return home a happy camper on Monday, ready to have at it again in the brewery. I am returning with a shit-ton of new inspiration, so hold on to your socks. New meads will be coming soon. Now al that rests me to do is the arduous task to attend the after-party and sample more meads. Sigh.
